HARRISBURG – Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46) today announced the approval of state funding for multiple parks projects in Greene and Washington counties.
“Parks provide us the opportunity to engage in healthy habits and recreation, which improves our quality of life and increases our enjoyment. These grants will help to fund projects that will absolutely make our communities better for everyone who calls them home,” Bartolotta said.
The following grants were approved by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources:
Greene County
Center Township will receive $100,000 to rehabilitate Center Township Community Park. Work will include renovation of the building, ADA access, landscaping, project signage and other related site improvements.
Greene County will receive $208,100 to further develop Wisecarver Recreation Area in Franklin Township. Work will include construction of an internal loop trail, boardwalk, pedestrian bridge and stormwater management measures; ADA access, landscaping, project signage and other related site improvements.
Washington County
Chartiers Township will receive $240,000 to rehabilitate and further develop Arnold Park. Work includes renovation of the baseball field; construction of a pedestrian walkway, access drive and parking area; installation of fencing; ADA access, landscaping, project signage and other related site improvements.
Claysville Borough will receive $100,000 to rehabilitate and further develop McGuffey Community Park. Work will include construction of pickleball courts, pedestrian walkways and a parking area; installation of play equipment with safety surfacing, fitness equipment and fencing; ADA access, landscaping, project signage and other related site improvements.
North Charleroi Borough will receive $71,100 to rehabilitate North Charleroi Park. Work will include installation of play equipment with safety surfacing and utilities; ADA access, landscaping, project signage and other related site improvements.
North Franklin Township will receive $351,900 to develop Waterside Park. Work will include construction of pickleball courts, basketball courts, a parking area and stormwater management measures; installation of fencing, lighting and utilities; ADA access, landscaping, project signage and other related site improvements.
Washington City will receive $35,000 to prepare an update to the multi-municipal Comprehensive Recreation, Park and Open Space Plan for Washington City and East Washington Borough. Work will include an electronic written report.
West Middletown Borough will receive $97,500 to rehabilitate and further develop West Middletown Park. Work will include renovation of a basketball court; construction of a pickleball court, pedestrian walkways and a parking area; installation of fencing; ADA access, landscaping, project signage and other related site improvements.
The grants were awarded through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program, which helps fund planning, acquisition and development of public parks, recreation areas, trails and more.
