Bartolotta Announces Nearly $5.7 Million in Grants for the 46th District

HARRISBURG – Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46) today announced state grants totaling nearly $5.7 million have been awarded to the 46th District through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The projects will improve public safety, create additional recreational opportunities and renovate community spaces.

“This funding will improve communities in Greene and Washington counties, lowering the costs for infrastructure projects that can be quite expensive. It will also be used to increase safety by addressing blight and offer people great places to gather both indoors and outdoors,” Bartolotta said.

The first portion of grants were awarded through the CFA’s Local Share Account (LSA) Program, which funds projects concerning the public interest, community improvement and economic development using gaming money generated by casinos.

Greene County:

  • Center Township received $850,000 for a sanitary sewer extension project.

Washington County:

  • Claysville Borough received $40,000 to complete the engineering and design to relocate or bury overhead power lines.
  • East Bethlehem Township received $743,210 to demolish two blighted structures.
  • Jefferson Township received $305,958 to purchase a force feed belt loader to be used in Cross Creek and Jefferson townships.
  • Marianna Borough received $250,000 to renovate a building to house its municipal offices.
  • Morris Township received $38,017 to complete a wastewater treatment plant planning project.
  • Peters Township received $500,000 for improvements to Peterswood Park Field 1 and $300,000 for upgrades to the Brush Run water system.
  • Union Township received $133,769 to replace the Snee Road Bridge.
  • Washington City received $184,500 to remodel Stone Pavilion.
  • Washington County Redevelopment Authority received $135,000 to replace “call for aid” pull-cords in three senior housing facilities.

The final two grants were awarded through the CFA’s Public School Facilities Improvement Grant (PSFIG) Program, which provides grants to public school districts and area career and technical schools for eligible facility improvement projects.

PSFIG grants benefitting the 46th District include:

  • Bethlehem-Center School District received $1.5 million for an HVAC and boiler/controls project at Bethlehem-Center Elementary School.
  • Jefferson-Morgan School District received $1 million for a roof replacement and HVAC project at Jefferson-Morgan Elementary School.

All projects were funded through the CFA, which is an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development that administers many of Pennsylvania’s economic development and community improvement programs.
